Machinable Glass Ceramic brick

Machinable Glass Ceramic brick has a continuous use temperature of 800°C and a peak temperature of 1000°C. Its coefficient of thermal expansion readily matches most metals and sealing glasses. It is non-wetting and unlike ductile materials, won't deform. It is an excellent insulator at high voltages, various frequencies and high temperatures. And, when properly baked out, it won't outgas in vacuum environments.

1. MGC can be machined with ordinary metal working tools and there is not need for post firing - meaning fast turnaround
2. It has a continuous use temperature of 800 C and the the max. Is up to 1000 C.
3. MGC has low thermal conductivity, it is a exellent temperature insulator.
4. MGC has no porosity and will not outgas when properly baked. It is widely used in ultra high vacuum applications.
5. MGC has high electric insulativity and it is used extensively throughout the semiconductor and electronic industries.
6. MGC has radiation resistant and plays a key role in nuclear applications and nuclear-related research and development.
7. MGC is unlike high temperature plastics, it will not creep or deform.
8. MGC can be thick or thin film metallized, brazed, epoxy and frit bonded.

High Machinability: Can be fabricated into complex geometries and tight tolerances (±0.01 mm) without the risk of chipping or fracturing during secondary operations.
Thermal Resistance: Withstand continuous operating temperatures from -270°C to +1,000°C (depending on grade), with near-zero thermal expansion, ensuring dimensional stability under thermal cycling.
Electrical Insulation: Excellent dielectric strength (up to 30 kV/mm) and high volume resistivity (10¹⁴–10¹⁵Ω·cm), making them ideal for high-voltage and high-frequency applications.
Chemical Durability: Inert to most acids, alkalis, and organic solvents, with low gas permeability and high vacuum compatibility (outgassing rates < 10^-8 Torr·L/s).
Non-Wetting & Non-Stick: Smooth surface finish reduces adhesion of molten metals, plastics, and glass.
