Machinable glass ceramic block

Machinable ceramic rods, white machinable microcrystalline ceramic round rods that can be directly turned, milled, drilled, and tapped on regular lathes, no sintering needed; withstands high temperatures up to 800°C, has high insulation with zero porosity, low off-gassing, and is a dedicated base material for vacuum, high-temperature, and high-pressure precision insulation parts.

Macor sheet

Machinable glass ceramic block, made from 55% fluorophlogopite and 45% borosilicate glass crystallization, with a density of 2.52g/cm³ and 0% porosity, no gas release, suitable for ultra-high vacuum environments.

The base material has a flexural strength of 94MPa and compressive strength of 345MPa at room temperature, Vickers hardness of 400HV. Ordinary hard alloy tools can directly perform turning, milling, 0.1mm micro-hole drilling, and M0.8-M12 tapping, with machining tolerance up to ±0.013mm.

After polishing, surface finish can reach Ra0.013μm, and the formed pieces do not require secondary sintering.

Macor block

MGC ceramic Microcrystalline glass ceramic board Thermal performance is stable: thermal conductivity is 1.46W/m·K at 25℃, can be used continuously at 800℃, with a short-term peak of 1000℃ without deformation; coefficient of thermal expansion from 25~800℃ is 123×10-7 /℃, matching stainless steel and titanium alloys, and it doesn't crack under thermal cycling. Electrical insulation is excellent, with a volume resistivity ≥10 13Ω·cm, DC breakdown strength 45kV/mm, and low dielectric loss at high frequency.

Available in diameters of 3.2~50.8mm and standard lengths of 100/300mm, can be cut to size or CNC-customized into special shapes. Widely used in high-precision applications such as semiconductor vacuum chambers, high-voltage insulation, aerospace, and high-temperature laboratory fixtures etc.

Application of ultra-low vacuum outgassing rate:

The machinable ceramics can be baked at 180°C and kept at 160°C for 1 hour. After 8 hours in a vacuum furnace, the outgassing rate is extremely low, only 8.8×10-9 ml/s·cm². Because of this, they are widely used as support components inside the vacuum chambers of various vacuum equipment.

Typical applications: Vacuum equipment, support parts for vacuum coating in the photovoltaic industry.
